I love to sew, bake, make cocktails, play in the park with my dogs and wear pretty frocks. But I also love to lift crazy weights, run around the office pretending to be a velociraptor and play roller derby with one hell of a war face. Most of the times these different loves work in harmony but sometimes things get a whole lotta cray-cray. And that has been the last fortnight for sure. Sewing has been on the back burner but there has been one tiny project that I have been working on...
Ladies and gents, I would like to show you but a wee corner of my finished Sureau muslin. I'm officially in love with this sucker and I am so making numerous versions so I can have a wardrobe of fab sundresses... And yes- I totes make muslins out of pretty fabric now. Who can say no to 70s bedsheet patterns? Not this sassy lady!
And in the spirit of the fact that this is a sewing blog I am giving peeps fair warning that I will now be including a scary war face photo from my game on Saturday. If this is not your thang I recommend getting out now! In fact, I will even buffer you further from seeing my crazy eyes by including a picture of disapproving Pimble. Can you sense her lack of approval of everything? I know I can...
So here I be in our league grand final getting my block on. I'm the sassy lady in red in the middle with the scary war face.

I can honestly say Saturday night was the best I ever played and while my epic team the Red Bellied Black Hearts didn't take the trophy we skated like bosses. Booyah!
And on that note I bid y'all adieu until next time. Just remember- don't get between me and a fabric sale table. It could be dangerous... (totes kidding- I'd clear a path for us both!)

Roller derby looks so damn cool, and yes you look scary, lol! I used to powerlift so I love that you lift crazy weights too but now I do karate (grading is coming up in a couple of weeks, I'm going for my brown belt hopefully!), geez we'd be a force to be reckoned with if we joined powers to fabric shop, lol!
and the muslin - I actually love that fabric, seventies bedsheets ftw!

My own bundle of lady contradictions leans more toward the sedentary activities, like tabletop gaming and watching sci-fi, but I can appreciate that you are a lady of contrasts with the pretty frocks and power lifting. There are so many ways to be a lady, and you do it very well!

Thanks, Rox! I am hoping to get some photos of the finished Sureau today. I really love this pattern because I was convinced shirt waist dresses would suck on me so it was nice to see that they don't, but also for ease of construction and the cute features. I really love the placket and the slight V in the neckline :D

Cindy- I think a fabric shopping expedition would only end in AWESOME! I am a lady who loves some tabletop gaming myself though I'm still converting to sci-fi. Firefly is proving to be my in ;)

And the muslin looks great - I'm a fan of bed covers for sewing ... my very first pair of trousers were made from a bed cover from Ikea, and I love them to bits. The fact that I looked like a clown (they were very colourful) only added to the appeal, lol.

HOly sh1t. That looks like a whole lotta fun! And what a grand idea - making toiles out of non-calico fabric. If I hadn't just bought 20m of the stuff (on sale) I'd be off to scour some thrift shops right now. Looking fwd to seeing the rest of the Sureau corners!

I'm a cacophony of contradictions myself - gamer & health nut; lover of elegant style and comfy pj's; artist and queen of lists... I could go on and on lol. I too earned my fifth degree brown belt back in the day so I know how important it is for even the most elegant girly ladies to have a kickass war face - and I'd trust yours in a fabric sale ANY DAY!! ^_^
